Bait Al Bagh
Bait Al Bagh is the main museum building that was originally founded as a family home in 1914 by Sheikh Al Zubair bin Ali, who served three former Sultans as a minister and advisor. It was a gathering place for the elite, while today it is rebuilt to suit its function as a museum, though still reflecting traditional elements of Oman’s architectural heritage and the original house. The museum showcases a rich collection of artifacts related to Omani history and culture. Highlights include exhibits on the Al Busaidi dynasty, a diverse array of khanjars (Omani daggers), traditional clothing for both men and women, swords, firearms, antique jewelry, household items, musical instruments, and a captivating wedding display. Additionally, the museum featuresa newly opened Architecture Hall.
On the first floor, visitors can explore the renowned stamp collection of Mohammed Al Jamali, alongside a historic collection of coins and a unique assortment of manuscripts dating back to the 16th century.
