Bait Al Zubair Museum is continually expanding its female attire collection, which currently consists of pieces from the 20th century. Multi-faceted traditional dress styles and accessories often reflect environmental conditions and cross-cultural fusions feature intricate embroidery and are produced in a myriad of dazzling colours.
There are distinct regional differences that dictate style and often fabric, and the collection features pieces representing each of the 8 main regions. Traditional dress styles that have evolved over hundreds of years are exhibited at Bait Al Zubair Museum and have inspired contemporary fashion designers and artists. A selection is on display in the Jewellery and Female Attire Gallery in Bait Al Bagh, the main museum building.
