Bait al Nahdhah was established in 2011 to house the museum’s large permanent collection of artwork by local and international artists that has been built over the course of the past two decades, as well as to provide a venue for exhibitions and cultural events. Within its walls there is a multi-purpose theatre as well as four seminar rooms and a large exhibition hall.
The artwork is displayed on three floors, with the works on the ground floor rotating to show either Omani work or showcasing international exhibitions from around the world. The collection as a whole includes the work of sixty artists and encompasses more than 400 paintings, photography and sculpture in a comprehensive range of styles and mediums.
Work from some of the most important Omani artists can been seen here. These include Anwar Sonya, Sarah White, Rabha Mahmoud, Maryam Al Zadjali, Hassan Meer, Moosa Omar, Juma Al Harthy, Radhika Hamlai, and Essa Al Mafraji.
