SHARIFA AL MARUBY EXHIBITION AT GALLERY SARAH
A rare exhibition by Sharifa Al Maruby using fused glass as a medium of art will open on Wednesday, the 27th September 2017 at 7:00PM at Gallery Sarah.
Sharifa, a holder of an MSC degree in Economics, produced her first masterpiece at the age of 12. Whilst her interest was initially in black and white portraits and later evolved into beautiful landscapes of neutral colors. The colorful clothing and intricate jewelry, typical of Omani culture and heritage have been the main inspiration in Sharifa’s choice of colors and sceneries. Her experimentation with different techniques and styles is clearly reflected in the variety of her eye catching pieces. Sharifa’s paintings are protected between two pieces of glass which are fused together at high temperatures. Other pieces are made by using powdered glass to create different shapes and designs which are then fused. These are given either a smooth or a textured finish. A touch of genuine 21 karat liquid gold adds the required elegance to some of her pieces. Her work is currently owned by collectors in Europe, Australia and the Middle East.
The exhibition will run until 12th October 2017. For more information about the “Reflections” exhibition and Gallery Sarah’s events and activities, please call 22084747 or visit us at www.gallerysarah.com
